Conventions
I am pleased to invite you to the TASN annual convention! It will be held at the Chattanooga Convention Center in the heart of downtown Chattanooga, September 25th - 27th. Attendees can now Register Online!
We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker is:
Dr. Patrick Hickey
RN, BSN, MS, MSN, Dr. P.H., CNOR
Patrick Hickey has been a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina for the past four years and just this year assumed an additional role as Principal of the Capstone Scholars program. Patrick epitomizes the motto for the Capstone Program, “Dream Big”, as he has proven through his successful completion of the 7 Summits of the World (highest mountains on the 7 continents) that dreams can become a reality. In addition to spending the past 7 years climbing mountains Patrick has circumnavigated the globe with his wife Carol as they have backpacked through 57 countries around the world. A native Canadian Patrick enjoys adventure travel, camping, backpacking, sunsets and on a rare occasion sunrises.
In addition to our fabulous keynote address, your weekend will be filled with many other fun and informative activities. The convention will begin Friday with Q& A sessions about TASN and your role as a member. There will also be a Board of Directors Panel where you can talk one on one with board members regarding their positions and participating at the state level and what running for office is all about. A Panel of Professional Nurses will end the first day at the Center, but be sure to come to the first night gathering. On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to participate in a Mini-NCLEX review, listen to our keynote speaker, Dr. Patrick Hickey, enjoy a luncheon, attend the exhibit hall, participate in informational and interesting breakout sessions, get a massage, participate in a blood drive, attend the House of Delegates meetings, and hear candidate speeches. Not to mention, you will meet several nursing students from all over the state of Tennessee. We will wrap up the weekend on Sunday where there will be NCLEX jeopardy, voting, the installment of your 2009-2010 TASN Board of Directors, and one of a many Door Prize Giveaways (must be present to win). You will have the rest of your Sunday to enjoy Downtown Chattanooga. We look forward to seeing all of you!
