Tennessee Association of Student Nurses: Board of Directors

Each year at State Convention TASN House of Delegates (HOD) elects a new Board of Directors (BOD) for the coming year. Any member from any nursing program in the state can run for a state office. Currently Tennessee has nine state offices. These include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Legislative Director, Breakthrough to Nursing Director,  Middle Regional Director, East Regional Director, and West Regional Director. Descriptions of each office can be found in the "Bylaws" section of the website. Instructions and resources for running for state or national office can be found under the "Running for Office" tab. Introductions and contact information for each current BOD member and for our TASN advisors can be found below.

              Hello Tennessee Nursing Students!!!

I feel very privileged to be serving as your current State President. I am a senior at Tennessee Wesleyan College, and I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!! I promise it’s there. I am responsible for seeing that the actions and responsibilities of the association are carried out and affective. I also report to TASN and NSNA about business affairs of the association. At Mid-Year and Annual conventions, I represent TASN at the COSP( Council of State Presidents) meetings and share our goals, accomplishments and ideas with members of NSNA board and Presidents across the Nation. I encourage each one of you to get involved. Whether it is at the local, state, or national level, the experiences and professional development that this organization helps create is something that you can carry with you for the rest of your career. If you ever have any questions, concerns, ideas, please contact myself or one of the following board members, and we will be more than happy to help you out!!

              Take Care and God Bless!!
               Brittany Conley

Hey there fellow nursing students! My name is Cassaundra Hoplite and I am proud to say that I am the TASN secretary. I am a pre-nursing student at Lincoln Memorial University. Did you catch the “pre-nursing” part? Taylor Anderson, the TASN east regional director and I have high hopes for an increase in pre-nursing student involvement in SNA at all levels. Higher numbers means a higher impact on the nursing field. You will find in the TASN mission statement, the board of directors are responsible for organizing, representing and communicating with pre-nursing students. As a college freshman, I felt like a fish out of water at my first local SNA meeting. I have learned so much in the past few months through my experiences at the TASN annual conference, NSNA mid-year, and routine business meetings. Please use me a resource!

              Greetings!

I am currently a senior at Tennessee Technological University and I am honored to serve the role as TASN Treasurer.  As Treasurer I am not only responsible for the financial well-being of our organization, but also for Fundraising.  We have many exciting plans and I am so thrilled to see where this year takes TASN.

We will be having our first annual 5k race this semester and would love for as many people to become involved as possible!  What better way to network and get involved than this!  If anyone would like to bring additional ideas for fundraising projects feel free to email me at the above address!

              Have a wonderful year!
              Tara Villicana

Hello! I am excited to serve as your Legislative Director! I am currently a senior at TTU School of Nursing and I have a lot of plans in store which will hopefully lead to an exciting and productive 2011-2012 term for everybody.

Currently I am working with TASN Board of Directors on a resolution to present at the NSNA National Convention this April. This is an opportunity for us as students to influence nursing practice at a national level. I will also be giving you insights on current health bills and finding easier ways for you to get in touch with our state and federal legislature. There will even be many opportunities for TASN involvement at the local level as we try to reach out to people of all ages and introduce them to the nursing profession. Please contact me if you are interested in representing your school! There are many free resources I can provide to help you out.

I look forward to your emails,
              Kristian Hailey
