Opportunities are available to join the Tennessee Association of Student Nurses (TASN) as a committee member. TASN also has an open board position, Middle Regional Director. Committee and board involvement is an excellent way to give back to the field of nursing and your community while furthering your professional goals and building your résumé.

The TASN board was elected at the annual state convention in September, 2009, and is composed of Heather McQuistion as President, Sarah Bumpas as Vice President, Becky Marshall as Secretary, Hays Faulkner as Treasurer, Missy Jones as Breakthrough to Nursing/Legislative Director, Tony Hill as West Regional Director, and Bridget Jones as East Regional Director. The TASN board went right to work developing and encouraging Breakthrough to Nursing, Community Service, Bylaws and Policies and Procedures projects. TASN also hopes to find student support for a resolution to present to National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA). If you would like more information on joining a committee, click here.

The new board had the opportunity to attend the NSNA MidYear Conference in Phoenix in October to learn more about their roles as officers. The TASN board looks forward to attending NSNA Annual Convention in Orlando, April 7-11, 2010 and Legislative Summit at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville. The TASN board is also excited about developing plans to hold a joint convention with Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) October 22-24, 2010 at Cool Springs Marriot in Franklin, TN.
